The Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration is responsible for coordinating the Government's efforts to promote civic citizenship and integration.
Active Citizenship
The Government is working for a society where all citizens enjoy rights, duties and opportunities on an equal footing and where all, according to their ablilities, participate actively in democracy and the wider society. All forms of violence, coercion and discrimination are unacceptable practices that the Government is working to prevent.
Integration of new citizens
All newly arrived immigrants and refugees are offered training in the Danish language and society. Persons originating from third countries are also offered activities, facilitating their access to the labour market or an education. The goal is that new citizens quickly learn the Danish language, become aware of their rights and responsibilities and get a job or an education, while ensuring at the same time that traumatised refugees and vulnerable families are taken care of.
